Open Evening - 2nd November 2006
The doors to Speak Easy @ Martlesham are always open to welcome guests but twice a year we hold an open evening to show just what joining the club can offer.
The evening includes prepared speeches and also a topics session where a volunteer speaks for two minutes on a title they've just been given.
Speak Easy is a non profit making organisation that provides a safe and supporting environment to learn and practice speaking and leadership skills. An excellent structured education programme coupled with feedback and experience of all the members quickly increases confidence and public speaking ability.
Everyone will be very welcome

DEMONSTRATION NIGHT - 26TH JANUARY 2006
A date for your diaries - there will be Demonstration Night on Thursday 26th January.
Each member is asked to bring along 2 guests to the evening and to display 5 posters in the area to publicise the evening. A corporate poster is being produced which will sell the evening on the theme of making a New Year's resolution to improve public speaking. Another suggestion was a gift could be made to friends / family in the form of part / full payment of the membership fees - what a superb Xmas present that would be!
In my role as VPPR I will be placing an editorial / press release in the EADT / Evening Star and hoping to be intereviewed on BBC Radio Suffolk in early January.
The structure of the evening will include:
- What the club goals are
- CTMs; ATMs; new members etc
- What the club want to encourage members to do
- Benefits the club can offer members
- Structure of Club Plan and Activities:
- 1 non-agenda / free for all evening (demo night 26/1)
- 2Competetent Leader Workshops (2nd wk in Feb and 2nd wk in May)
- 1 Social Evening / awards celebration - (April)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SPEAKEASY - NOV 2005
Speakeasy @ Martlesham was one year old on 18th November. During the last year the club has gone from strength to strength with new members joining and existing members progressing through their manuals and improving before our eyes.
The club has a really friendly atmosphere and guests are always welcome to come along, members are reminded to bring along a guest at any time.
AREA CONTEST - OCT 2005
The area contest took place in Cambridge in October and was representated by Margaret Stanway who entered the Table Topics contest and Phil Zoio who entered the Humourous Contest on behalf of Speakeasy.
Margaret Stanway was unfortunately unplaced but Phil was sucessful is being placed third. Well done to both Margaret and Phil who gave fantastic speeches and who represented the club extremely well.
